Rock the Street, Wall Street:
Volunteering Opportunity

Northeast Women in Public Finance is partnering with Rock The Street, Wall Street to offer the opportunity to mentor high school students for this highly regarded well-established program at Manhattan Business Academy in New York City.

Rock The Street, Wall Street (RTSWS) is a financial and investment literacy program designed to bring both gender and racial equity to the financial markets and spark the interest of high school girls into careers of finance.

Students and volunteers participate in a series of three in-person mentoring sessions at the school, which is located on 18th Street in Manhattan.

RTSWS provides all of the curriculum, training and resources that volunteers need to be successful in their mentor role. Additional information will be provided to those interested in participating.

Location: Manhattan Business Academy: 351 W 18th St, NYC

Dates & Time: Sessions at MBA will be held from 12:15-1:15 PM in the Library.

  • Makeup Session #1 - March 26*
  • Makeup Session #2 - April 9*
*Makeup Sessions will only be utilized if one of the first 3 sessions is canceled.

Goals of the mentorship sessions include:
  • Providing students with a female mentor who provides early industry access and from whom they can gain knowledge and wisdom
  • Assisting with the formation of professional tools such as networking basics
  • Providing tools for assessing students' strengths, assisting in defining college and career goals, and acting as a sounding board

Because the focus is relationship building, RTSWS asks volunteers to commit to volunteer for all three sessions at the school. Mentors may work in pairs if they anticipate that work demands could prevent them from participating in any given session.
