NEWPF Project Finance Series:
Applied Sciences NYC

Please join us for a panel discussion on the ambitious project of the New York City Economic Development Corporation to create four applied science and engineering campuses in NYC.

What is Applied Sciences NYC?

Applied Sciences NYC is the City's unparalleled opportunity to build or expand top-tier applied sciences and engineering campuses. It is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to dramatically increase our potential for economic growth.

On December 19, 2011, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Cornell University President David Skorton, and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology President Peretz Lavie announced a historic partnership to build a $2 billion, two-million-square-foot applied science and engineering campus on Roosevelt Island in New York City.

As of November 2013, three additional programs have been selected along with the Cornell-Tech proposal: Carnegie Mellon, NYU, and Columbia University.

Collectively, the four projects are expected to generate more than $33.2 billion in nominal economic activity, over 48,000 permanent and temporary construction jobs, and approximately 1,000 spin-off companies by 2046.

NEWPF Panel Discussion

As part of our annual Project of the Year series, we will be bringing in a panel of experts from various parties coordinating on the program and also from the Cornell-Tech project implementation team. The panel will educate participants on the project and outline what it means for the City in both the near and long-term future.

There will be an underlying message relating to the public sector’s role in the program implementation from both a financing and staffing perspective.

Panelists include:
Seth Pinsky, RXR Metropolitan Emerging Market Strategy, former President of NYCEDC
Andrew Winters, Cornell University Project Implementation Team

The panel discussion will be followed by a reception and the opportunity to meet our panelists and visit with friends and colleagues.
